Kinder to Our Planet

The theme I have been focusing on for the past year has been Kinder to Our Planet. The day will focus on how we can as a community and individuals improve the planet and spaces we live in, from food to second hand shopping, which will hopefully help the climate crisis we are in now.

We have provided a few different approaches to how we can improve our planet and be kinder to it.

A variety of organisations have contributed to how we can make food more accessible and more sustainable around Leeds by growing it locally and reducing food waste. I also thought it would be interesting to have a look at how coffee has a part in this as it is a very popular drink around Leeds therefore important to understand how it can be sourced sustainably.

I also had a chat with Gill from Zero Waste Leeds who is doing amazing work around the city to improve access to recycling in the city centre, including that of take away coffee cups. She also emphasised the importance of buying second hand especially school uniforms, and we had an interesting discussion about how to start your own Zero Waste journey.

I come from a Psychological background, but sustainability and eco friendliness has been a massive passion of mine for over 6 years. I want to help people help themselves and the planet in the most accessible way possible by making sustainability attainable. I have focused in providing simple ways for family and friends to start and I want to do so for everyone else I can reach.
